Fashion

1. they made her eyes bigger, they got rid of her freckles/blemishes, they made her lips bigger, they lowered her eyes and made her neck longer.
2. the removed her freckles, they made her eyes bigger, they made her nose smaller, they made her shoulders bigger, they made her neck longer, they made her skin lighter, they made her skinner, they made her arms and legs longer, and they made her hair lighter.
3. they made her skinner, they made her butt smaller and her breast bigger, smoothed out her skin, and they added hair and made her head bigger.
4. no it is not, because beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. I feel like stereotyping has ruined the world, and peoples stupidity has branded what "beauty" is. to this world beauty is light skin, blond hair, blue eyes and, really skinny.
5. Yes, like making women skinnier, and lightening their skin, and changing their face completely.
6. making no changes is okay, and changing literally EVERYTHING about someone is not okay at all. if you don't like how someone looks HIRE ANOTHER MODEL, DON'T CHANGE EVERYTHING ABOUT SOMEONE.
7.  Photojournalism is natural, and Fashion photography is fake.
8.
9. To show us the difference between fashion photography and photojournalism.
10. Because we have this idea about women's beauty, you know the light skin, blue eyes, blond hair, thing, and we like to change women to fit this standard, men not so much, apparently women need to be made into perfect human beings, if theres a really "beautiful" or "sexy" woman on a cover of a magazine or something like that, women will be like "OH! How do I be her?!", or "OH MY GOD! I WANT TO BE HER!" and they'll buy the magazine to find out how to look like her, and men will be like "Wow, she's hot!" or some other inappropriate stuff, and they'll buy the magazine to look at the women.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
More dramatic angles and stuff like that.

4. What things would you do the same?
I would do almost everything the same.

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?
Rule of thirds and Lines

Africa

I find it interesting how much he cares for the animals. I also love the way he takes photos
Its my favorite because of how the Wildebeests are positioned in the water
the rules that evident are Rule of Thirds, Lines, and simplicity.
He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses, "Brandt does not use telephoto lenses because he believes that being close to the animals make a huge difference in his ability to reveal their personality." It also makes it more dramatic. his reason for taking these is showing the animals simply in the state of Being. his hope is taking pictures of he animals In the state of Being before they are no longer are. Before, in the wild at least, they cease to exist.
"My images are unashamedly idyllic and romantic, a kind of enchanted Africa. They're my elegy to a world that is steadily, tragically vanishing."

i don't really have a preference, sorry.

Post Shoot Reflections

1. A challenge I encountered when trying to get my photos was getting the photo just right.

2. Focus. I tried my best to not be right on top of what I was taking a photo of.

3. I would try my best to get a few rules into every photo.

4. I would do a lot of the things the same such as depth and taking random photos of random things.

5. I did, I had a lot of Rule of Thirds.

6. Yeah, I want to see if my interpretation is the same as before.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Academic Shoot Preview

The Story

I think the story that this photo tells is the basic "helping hands" story you know schools helping out the community.

Action and Emotion

The action in this photo is the water exploding into the air.
the emotion in this photo is surprise.

Filling the Frame

The frame is filled by the kids pulling plants (weeds) out of the ground.

                              ---------------------------------------------------------

I chose the photo with the boy writing Quantum Mechanics on the board.
I chose that photo because I love the composition, the lighting, just over all everything about the photo.
The rules of composition that are evident in this photo are Lines, Rule of Thirds, and Simplicity

                            ---------------------------------------------------------

1. I think that I could take photos in French
2. Madame Tennen's room
3. As a photographer I will try to Avoid Mergers and Try to get some of the rules of composition in my photos.  I will also lay on the ground like I'm crazy so I can get the perfect shot.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics.

1.
Photojournalists/Photographers get fired because they manipulate photos.
Also they use photo shop to take out women from their photos.
I think that this type photo editing is acceptable because its not like its hurting anyone.

2.
I think that this photo is the most unethical because they had no reason to give her a "tooth job." She looks fine just the way she was before.

I think that that this photo is the least unethical because they just darkened it for dramatic effect.

The Camera

1. Explain the “camera obscura” effect. How is it achieved?
The "camera obscura" is when in s completely dark room a tiny hold is created in one wall. Through the hole light is focused, and the outside scene is projected upside down on the opposite wall.

2. What invention during the 17th Century helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera? The High Quality Lens.

3. What were the parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce?
A glass lens, film, and a dark box.

4.What do modern digital cameras have in common with Niepce’s camera?
A digital camera is still composed of a dark box, film, and a lens.

5. What do digital cameras use to capture an image?
an electronic sensor called a CCD.

6. What is the difference between the Auto Mode and the Program mode?
Auto- Can't control anything and Program-can control

7. What is the Portrait mode used for? How does it work?
It attempts to blur the background. The camera will try the fastest available lens setting (aperture)

8. What is the Sports mode used for? (not just sports) How does it work?
it freezes motion. The camera uses the highest shutter speed possible.

9. Why should you do a half press on the trigger button?
It focuses one the thing you want to take a photo of.

10. What does this symbol mean? When would you use this?
disabled flash. You would use this to determine the mood of the photo. Sometimes natural light is more dramatic
11.What does this symbol mean? When would you use this?
Auto Focus. If there is enough light or not.

12. What happens to your photo if there is too much light?
If there is Too much light the picture will be washed out.

A stop is the relative change in light

Different combinations of shutter and f-stop settings.

Avoiding Mergers

I think that this is the "Avoiding Mergers" rule because she looks like she could be part of the walls.

Framing

I think that this is "Framing" because the broken down wall is framing the firefighter on the ladder.

Balance

I think that this is "balance" because there are two families balancing each other out.

Lines

In this photo the lines are following the man down the building. Since they are going the same way as the man (vertical) the make the photo feel more dramatic.

Rule Of Thirds

I think that this is rule of thirds because the "real" subject is the Twin Towers and they are in the bottom right of the screen.

Simplicity

I think this photo is the rule of "Simplicity" because there is barely anything going on in the background its simple and nothing is distracting the viewers eyes from the subject.

My First Photos

I liked this photo because it captures the reality of what really happens behind the camera. I feel like if i just asked them to pose it wouldn't be as meaningful. it would be forced and "fake".
This photo reminded me of the beginning of the school year because its the flags on front of the school. which are one of the first things you see when you get to school. I've always had a thing for taking photos of flags and the sky. Don't ask just enjoy the photo.
I like this photo because I believe the sky has meaning.
The way the clouds move. The color of the sky. The Sun. Everything plays in.

this was one of my favorite photos because it was spontaneous. I literally just dropped my pen and i was like "wait... this would make a GREAT photo." Ways I made this photo a good photo? Lighting and positioning the camera perfectly so that my feet wouldn't be in the entire photo.
